I have been looking for a pattern for crochet slippers for my ten year old daugheter for some time, searching stores and the internet. She already owns crochet ballerina slippers (I will post them later) but these Mary Jane-slippers will make her thrilled! Thanks to Kathleen Watkins at Chrocet Designs by Kathleen for sharing her pattern with her readers! I think this pattern is about a European size 37, so I will experiment a bit with my hook and different yarns and post the result and maybe adjustments here later. Thank you again Kathleen!

This is the pattern/post (and photo) borrowed from Kathleens webpage:

To finish off slipper portion, leave a 12 inch length of yarn at end of row 28. Place right sides of heel together and sew together heel with needle using 12 inch length.

STRAP– make 2

1: Ch 18, sc in 12th ch from hook. Continue to sc in next 11 sts. Ch 1 (note–this is where you will adjust the strap for different sized buttons.(see finishing note B)

2: Along opposite side of row just worked, sc in next 12 sc. 6 sc in to loop, 12 sc along original side to beginning of round. You will have crocheted 30 sts around entire strap. Fasten off leaving a 12 inch length of yarn for attaching strap to slipper later.

FINISHING

1. Starting at heel, sc 28 sc evenly around slipper opening, do not join and repeat 28 sc for a second round. Finish off and weave in loose ends.

2. Place strap approximately 1 - 1 ½ inches from heel seam and sew in place. Put button on opposite side of slipper approximately 1 - 1 ½ inches from heel seam. REMEMBER: the straps are sewn onto the inside of the slipper, and the buttons are sewn onto the outside of the slipper. Each slipper will be a mirror of the other.

NOTES:
A. If you choose a longer or shorter slipper, adjust the pattern between the rows 19-25.
B. If you choose larger or smaller buttons, adjust your strap loop size making the last 6 stitches of the starting loop chain larger or smaller accordingly.
